Former Flat Track Stars among the Motorcycle Legends Coming to Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Jan. 6, 2025) –

The legendary “Michigan Mafia” flat track racers – Scott Parker, Jay Springsteen and Garth Brow – will be among the featured guests on Saturday, Jan. 31, in the sixth annual “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame Museum and Motorcycle Industry Celebration at the Las Vegas’ Notoriety Theatre in the famed Las Vegas Fremont Street Experience (450 E. Fremont St., 3rd Floor).

The 2026 celebration also includes a special association with the annual MECUM AUCTIONS motorcycle event at the South Point Casino and Resort. Each “Hot Shoe” attendee will receive free admission to the MECUM event, a $300 value!! The 2026 “Hot Shoe” spectacular is free to all and please register at www.hotshoehof.com.

The “Michigan Mafia” was a popular contingent from the late 1970s to the 2000s with Parker, the nine-time AMA Grand National champion and winningest race winner (94); Springsteen, the three-time AMA Grand National titleholder and first racer to capture 30 AMA Grand National races; and Brow, a dominant short track racer, captured his first AMA Grand National race in his “rookie year” (1977) at the famed Ascot Park as well as many Mile classics.

This amazing trio from Flint, Michigan, made shambles of the AMA Grand National flat track series for decades with Parker leading the way with a sensational 55 AMA Mile victories and 35 AMA Half-Mile wins. His handlebar-to-handlebar battles with the likes of Ricky Graham, Bubba Shobert and Chris Carr made for some of the greatest flat track racing in history. Scott took his first AMA Grand National win at DuQuoin in a classic run against the haybales. He went on to win 93 more races on Harley-Davidsons.

A star from the start in his 1975 rookie season in the AMA Grand National tour, Springsteen competed in 398 AMA flat track events and collected 43 AMA wins and three Grand Nationals championships (1976, 1977, 1978). A fan favorite for decades as a factory Harley-Davidson rider, “Springer” took on many of the greatest riders in flat track history including Kenny Roberts, Gary Scott, Gene Romero, Parker, Graham, Shobert, Carr and others.

Brow, known by his popular nickname “Gonzo,” still races and wins in short track and ice competitions at age 67 and leaped onto the AMA Grand National series in 1977 with his impressive Ascot Half-Mile win over many legends of the sport and continued his raise in flat track racing with classic Mile wins at San Jose and Indianapolis. Brow rode a famed Bultaco in short track action and Harleys in Mile and Half-Mile competition.

“We are thrilled to have the ‘Michigan Mafia’ guys come to this year’s ‘Hot Shoe’ Hall of Fame and Motorcycle Industry Celebration,” said Gene Woods, founder and curator of the Las Vegas-based “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame. “Scott, Jay and Garth have left an incredible legacy in flat track dating back to the 1970s and continued for many decades. They have some great stories about their 140 mile-per-hour action, and we hope all of our event’s attendees will enjoy those crazy and wild adventures in our racer presentation. With the three ‘Mafia” members’ Hot Shoes among our great display at our Gene Woods Karting Track, the Celebration’s attendees will have a great opportunity to see historic shoes up close before the Hot Shoe event.”

Some 50 new inductees will be a part of the 2026 class for the “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame when this year’s event gets underway on Saturday, Jan. 31, with the popular “meet and greet” and racer celebration with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. The “Legends Karting Race” is set for 4 p.m. with on-stage presentations are scheduled for 7 p.m.

The “Hot Shoe” is the symbol that recognizes the cream of the crop of motorcycle racing stars who used a very specialized tool, the steel shoe, to assist them in navigating the dirt track corners.

Special hotel discount rates for the sixth annual “Hot Shoe Hall of Fame” celebration at the historic El Cortez Hotel and Casino and Downtown Grand Hotel are available with “Hot Shoe” promo codes.

In the last five years, Woods, “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame president Keith Mashburn, the “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame Board of Directors and the event staff have produced the “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame Museum Celebrations attended by a star-studded affair of motorcycle legends. The “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame Museum, full of steel shoes from numerous motorcycle icons, is located at the Gene Woods Racing Experience karting track (450 E. Fremont St., #171, Las Vegas) in the Fremont St. Experience.
