“Each year we have new attendees who experience a great time and meet many former competitors,” said Gene Woods, founder and curator of the “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame. “And annually many of the ‘Hot Shoe Museum’ inductees come back to enjoy a casual, fun atmosphere that happens with this celebration. Having racers from so many different disciplines gives the motorcycle enthusiast a chance to meet competitors they haven’t met previously or spoken with them in many years. It’s just a great night for racing stories and ‘bench racing.’”
In the last five years, Woods, “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame president Keith Mashburn, the “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame Board of Directors and his staff produced the “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame Museum Celebrations which also ties in with the annual Mecum Motorcycle Auction at the South Point Resort and Casino. Veteran motorcycle announcers Tery Clanton and Jerry Bernardo will be hosting the 7 p.m. presentation.
The “Hot Shoe” is the symbol that recognizes the cream of the crop of motorcycle racing stars who used a very specialized tool, the steel shoe, to assist them in navigating the dirt track corners.
For those accepted into the Hall of Fame, the honorees’ “Hot Shoe” is mounted on a Hall of Fame plaque. Recipients receive their own version 8x10 plaque. Potential “Hot Shoe” Hall of Fame candidates can apply at www.hotshoehof.com. Register for the Hall of Fame Celebration at www.hotshoeholf.com
