He started racing in ’70, with his 1st factory ride with Hodaka. Harley Davidson picked him up in ‘73. In ‘75 signed with Factory Honda. He would lead Americans in moto wins in the Trans Am series. In ‘77 he made many podium finishes and won the FL 500 National. In ‘78 he won the Sears Point 500 National and was 3rd overall in SX, In ‘79 he rode for Kawasaki. He later won 5 Off Road Championships in a Jeep.
