Born into a racing family, Tim received his AMA and SCTA licenses and started racing motorcycles at the age of 13. He raced drag bikes at OCIR and Carlsbad Raceways, and Land Speed Racing at El Mirage Dry Lake. He recorded the fastest time in his class from 1976 through 1979 and captured the trophy for Fastest Production Motorcycle during the 1989 season.
