John Penton grew up in northern Ohio. He had a passion for motorcycles, and especially off-road racing. He turned his dream of a lightweight off-road racer into a reality with the introduction of the Penton motorcycle in 1967. With the help of his sons, Tom, Jeff and Jack, and nephew Dane Leimbach, the Penton motorcycle became an overnight success. The achievements of the Penton family helped shape a new industry of off-road racing.
