Parsons, son of the 1950 Indy 500 winner, competed in 12 Indy 500 races (finishing in the Top Five three times) and was a 29-time race winner in USAC midgets. The personable racer also promoted AMA and USAC event in the Midwest including Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Freedom Hall in Louisville and The Scope in Norfolk, Va., in the 1970s. Johnny is also a member of the National Midget Hall of Fame.
