He began riding a Yamaha DT1, then AJS as he started racing local So Cal MX. With support from Husqvarna in ‘72 he began competing in the Nationals, InterAm and Trans Am, then switched to Maico in ‘74. With Maico and Mike’s Racing Center he felt he had what he needed to be compete. He crashed during the '75 Saddleback TransAm race and suffered terminal injuries, becoming the first AMA MX Pro to die in action.
