Billy started racing at age 9. He earned his first national number 65 after competing on the National Road Race circuit in 1974. After three years and no bikes to ride Billy lost his National Number. In 1979 he acquired a new Harley-Davidson XR750 and began competing on the National Flat Track circuit. In 1980 Billy captured 3 National wins and earned National Number 10. A shattered left leg at the 1981 San Jose Mile ended his racing career.
