Jim raced the first time in 1957, the High Mountain Run Enduro, then the Spencer Park 1962, and also Encenada Grand Prix, first 350 cc expert Class (Honda Scrambler)1964 District 37 AMA Scrambler, 1965 AMA Professianal Novice. High point novice El Cajon Speedway, (Bultaco Persang). 1966 High point AMA TT Rider of the nation.
