Darrin was a privateer racer, started racing flat track at 12 years old, by age 13 he was riding a 250 Bultaco winning races in Virginia. He turned Pro in 1978. In 1982 as a rookie Expert he won 4 East Coast regionals. He finished 2nd in the Ohio Hall of Fame points 3 times. He rode a Harley Davidson XR750 and held a national number for 10 years, #41 for one year and #68 for 9 years. After a 20-year racing career Darrin retired in 1993.
