From public address announcing to radio, then from radio to television, Dave Despain's media career spanned nearly half-a-century, much of it devoted to increasing exposure for motorcycle racing. "I wanted very much to be a racer," Despain says, "but quickly realized I was a whole lot better at describing racing than actually doing it myself. It was an honor to contribute in a small way to the careers of so many big stars."
